  • Mobile Broadband Offers From Three & T-Mobile

    1 Comment December 9, 2007 / Posted in Mobile Broadband, T-Mobile, Three

How would you like to have broadband access without the need for a phone to be installed? With a dongle you can have mobile broadband access anywhere – at home, in a hotel, in the bar, on the train – in fact anywhere (well provided you can get a signal). Browse the web, pick up email from as little as £10 a month.

Dongles (small USB modems) are available from Carphone Warehouse for T-Mobile or Three on the following tariffs (prices correct at time of writing)

    Three Broadband Plus
    18 months – £15.00 a month – £49.95 USB modem
Up to 3GB of data allowance a month and speeds of up to 2.8Mbps

    Three Broadband Lite
    24 months – £10.00 a month – £49.95 USB modem
Up to 1GB of data allowance a month and speeds of up to 2.8Mbps

    T-Mobile Web n Walk Plus
    18 months – £29.00 a month – FREE USB modem
Up to 3GB of data allowance a month and speeds of up to 1.8Mbps

    T-Mobile Web n Walk Plus
    24 months – £15 a month – FREE USB modem
Up to 3GB of data allowance a month and speeds of up to 1.8Mbps

You can also check out the latest offers from the mobile providers direct and it’s worth checking coverage before optting for either T-Mobile or Three. Three expect to roll out their Turbo Network next year offering 2.8Mbps speeds.

Also worth checking is the cost of extra data allowance should you go over the monthly limit. If you expect to be an extensive user then Three also offer a 7GB allowance on their Broadband Max option – plus there’s good news for lite users too with the introduction of pay as you go mobile broadband tariff.

So which dongle should you choose? Well, Three are leading the charge with Mobile Broadband, offering a range of reasonably price tariffs compared to T-Mobile. The Pay as You Go option may well be ideal if you’re unsure if using a dongle is right for you. Three also offer more generous data allowance packages, which is a surprise given T-Mobiles mobile phone Web n Walk deals.

    Apple Iphone Offers & Availablity

The most eagerly awaited phone launch and must have Christmas gadget – the Apple Ipone – launches in the UK on November 9th. Described as “a revolutionary mobile phone, a widescreen iPod with touch controls, and a breakthrough internet communications device with the best email ever on a mobile phone, web browsing, maps, and searching” demand for the phone will be high. But where are the latest offers and best deals?

The Apple Iphone is only available through Carphone Warehouse, O2 and Apple Store. The phone will cost you £269 and you’ll then have the option of 3 tariffs (£35, £45 and £55).

The good news for mobile broadband users is that all come unlimited data transfer and wifi. Although terms and conditions do apply.

It is being billed as the “breakthrough internet device” as it “features rich HTML email so images and photos display in-line with the text. It also features Safari – the most advanced web browser ever on a portable device – which automatically syncs bookmarks from your PC or Mac. Safari also includes built-in Google and Yahoo! oneSearch”.

Sky Announce One Million Broadband Users

Leave the first response October 31, 2007 / Posted in BT Broadband, Promotions

According to a report in The Independent Sky Broadband users have surpassed the one million user mark and is now the fastest growing broadband supplier in the UK. “In the three months to the end of June, Sky added nearly 260,000 new broadband users, streaking ahead of BT with 146,000 new users, Carphone Warehouse with 126,000 and, most starkly, Virgin Media with only 50,000″.

This may well be because Sky Broadband is free for TV subscribers provided they stick to the Sky Base package, ideal for light users who just want to check email and do a small amount of web browsing. The fear for Sky has been losing subscribers to their now bitter rival Virgin Media, who are also being aggressive in trying to attract new broadband users.

However, both companies are going to face even more competition when BT start to promote their own TV, phone and broadband deals with BT Vision. BT Broadband are already offering broadband for just £8.95 for the first 6 months of an 18 month contract – and further deals are expected to entice the new christmas computer buyers to joining their broadband service.
